5 Of The Best BOHO Wedding Dress Designers

Boho can be defined in so many terms as it can mean so many different things to so many different people. When a bride comes into the boutique wanting "boho", I always ask for reference photos - I can pull what I think to be boho but it may not be what the bride thinks of to be boho (drink every time I say "boho"). Boho (directly regarding wedding dresses) can be defined as a type of dress inspired by free people and free spirits. This could mean that dresses can be flowy silhouettes, light and airy but it could also mean heavy laces, more fitted silhouettes and billowing sleeves. Whatever may be boho for you, make sure to get your Pinterest board cranking or make sure to have plenty of reference photos for your consultant and also your entourage.

Rue De Seine - Reno
There was a massive influx of boho style wedding dresses a few years back but it's one of those styles that will always be around as there are ALWAYS brides gravitating towards it. There are some really amazing designers that do boho so so well from all different price ranges and backgrounds. Have a look below and hopefully we have sparked a starting point for you!

RUE DE SEINE

The obvious designer for me when I think of of boho would absolutely be Rue De Seine. The designs come straight out of New Zealand and are inspired by free-people and their effortless bohemian lifestyle. What started as a small team has now grown into a worldwide company. From the very start of the design process all the way until it's packaged up and sent to you, these gowns are 100% New Zealand. Their designs literally have something for everyone, no matter what boho means to them. There are billowing sleeves, high contrast lace patterns, fitted dresses, flowy skirts, coloured embroidery and the most beautiful and unique textiles imaginable. I can guarantee you that you would have seen their iconic gowns all over Pinterest! As said at the beginning, these guys are now readily available worldwide - check out their retailer page to find a stockist near you.

Zolotas - Gown iii

ZOLOTAS AUSTRALIA

Does anybody else immediately think of Mamma Mia when they think boho? If this is the case then please, please, please do yourself a favour and check out the designs from Zolotas Australia. These handmade gowns are all about showcasing a beautiful boho/vintage vibe using the most stunning cottons and laces straight out of Greece. These guys nail every silhouette you could ever want and offer such a unique look for every wedding gown. They have an amazing range of two pieces, textured skirts and dreamy gowns ready for you to frolic on a white sand beach or dashing through the cobblestone streets of Mykonos. They even hire wedding dresses too! Readily available if you live in Perth but unfortunately for everyone else you are going to have to make a hell of a trip - but I promise you, it will be so worth it.

DAUGHTERS OF SIMONE

Daughters of Simone - Mosshart

Daughters of Simone was created over 12 years ago and really wanted to shake things up in the bridal industry. These beautiful designs really capture the free flowing movement of the 1970's in California which is displayed in the use of crochet laces and beautiful silks. All of the collections by Daughters of Simone have an effortless and easy feel to them with a range of silhouettes to suit all body types and really give off a Fleetwood Mac vibe. Amazingly, you can actually order these pieces online and even have an "at home" try on service. If that's not for you, then they happen to be stocked all over the world as well so be sure to check out their official retailers and keep an eye out for their trunkshows.

White April - WA6125

WHITE APRIL

Wanting a hint of boho but not wanting to commit too hard to the theme? Having an outdoor wedding
in the bush or reserve? White April may be the designer for you. White April is the unique and more boho sister of Cizzy Bridal - more daring, a bit glam but stays true with a boho base. White April have many collections and many variations on the boho style. Some collections celebrate heavy, scalloped lace and crochet and other collections showcase nature inspired appliques and embroidery. There are all different types of sillouettes available including A-Line, mermaid, fit and flare and even some extremely cool gowns with inbuilt shorts! As well as being widely stocked in Australia, you can find them all over the world and frequently do trunk shows of most of the collections.

SHIKOBA BRIDE

Shikoba Bride - Orla
One of the best boho bridal designers in the UK - hands down. Shikoba is all about being laid back, effortless and undeniably cool. Their designs are super unique and feature beading, fringe, lace, embroidered tulle and beautiful flowy silks. In their collections, you will find stunning two-pieces, a whole lot of fringe and some beautiful and interesting lace. The coloured gowns especially are among my favourites! I can easily picture all of these wedding dresses amongst an outdoor setting with golden hour in full swing (chefs kiss). At the moment, Shikoba is only based in Europe and America - fingers crossed this changes because I would LOVE to see more!

Boho is such an amazing theme and vibe to have for a wedding. I hope I have inspired you and have opened your eyes to some really cool designers out there who can really nail a boho wedding gown for you. Whether that be vintage inspired, nature based or effortless textiles. It's not all flower head bands, barefeet and peace and love...well maybe a little bit of peace and love.

P.S Sorry if you are now drunk from the amount of times I have said Boho xox
