The BEST short dresses for your Big Day!
There has been a massive increase in the last year or so with brides wanting to have a short dress for their wedding day or as a second look/reception dress. Ever since Covid, more and more brides are either eloping and not wanting to have a big dress or they think..."who knows what's going to happen, let's get married and have a damn party!" - and who could blame them! More designers are introducing short dresses for the current and upcoming collections and some designers coming out that only do short bridal dresses period. The short/mini dress is such a cute, flirty and FUN alternative without the fuss which could actually be used again and again. Dress them down with some sneakers or boots or dress them up with a killer pair of heels and a fun veil. I have listed some absolutely amazing designers and short wedding dress options for you, my fun bride!
First off the bat is new designer Elope Bridal out of Perth, Western Australia. This designer is strictly mini dresses only and god does she do it well! All dressed are made locally and are even named after local bars and restaurants. My fave pick from Elope would be Lalla and Ezra - flirty, short and fun!. These can be purchased online and all come under $1,000AUD - oh, and did I mention that they all come with pockets?! (WE LOVE POCKETS).

Anne-Mariee
As soon as I saw the Alba dress by Anne-Mariee I was IN LOVE!. This would be the dress for someone who wants the drama of a full wedding gown but the the fun and convenience of a short dress. The basis of this piece is a short, A-Line silhouette in a beautiful satin material. A simple dress but with the added drama of this amazing, billowing cape. This dress can also have a removable one shoulder bow and a flowy train - so versatile! This designer also creates some other absolutely stunning short pieces so be sure to check her out. They do fall into the more expensive side of things but the look is worth it!
Christie Nicole Bridal
Now, if you haven't been living under a rock or have never looked at Pinterest - you would have absolutely seen this viral dress by now! The Rhiannon dress by Christie Nicole is just so unique and so special. The 3D appliques, the textured skirt and those beautiful sleeves (oh my god the SLEEVES!). This designer actually has quite a few short options and all are as equally as beautiful as the iconic Rhiannon dress. They are stocked around the world but originate in Sydney, Australia - these beauties also get pretty up there on price but again...totally worth it!

By Watters
By Watters is the parent company that umbrella's brands such as Wtoo Brides and Willowby Brides and offer such a huge range of really beautiful and different designs. What's great about By Watters is that their website literally has a tab dedicated to little white dresses! They have so many flirty, delicate, modest, sleeved, no sleeves, silk, satin, lace..I could go on. Hands down, my fave of theirs is the Tart Dress - its just everything! I would consider selling my first born for this dress. As there are multiple brands under the name, you will have to do a little hunting to track down what you want so good luck and I will be a very jealous girly whoever wears this.

Don't feel like spending almost the same amount on a short dress than you would on a full length bridal gown? There are so many other brands that do really beautiful short bridal dresses but do come at the cost of "fast fashion" - but hey, a bargain is a bargain and I do love a bargain! Looking at options I would recommend places like Oh Polly (plenty of gorgeous sparkly, pearl embellished mini's), ASOS (endless options and some really cool, unique pieces) even Showpo have some cute mini's!
I absolutely love that these looks are coming back in! Not just as the main dress but also that second look/reception dress option. Choosing a short gown does not mean compromising on detail and feeling equally as special as you would in a long gown. I hope this article has been helpful and inspires your creative mind or maybe even persuades you into a short option?
